Many times, we find ourselves in search of our voices. We create routines for structure, backup plans for security, and impulsive choices for self-indulgence. Music breathes life into these moments. We go to school or work as it rains, and we listen to a song that reminds us that raindrops are like running people. Sometimes, we catch ourselves remembering a tune we heard in a public space because it sounds comforting. We go back home, open our devices, and look for that song desperately.
Eventually, we end up with playlists or aimlessly tuning in the radio for tracks with similar vibes.
The cycle continues as we continue to search for our own identity in the little things we do. Every step turns into a leap and every decision becomes a milestone.
That's what Gakuto Kajiwara's latest single,' Jinsei no Life', feels like: a glimpse of reality through camera lenses filtered with a comforting and honest perspective.
'Jinsei no Life' carries a light-hearted tune and steady rhythm; at times, it rushes then it slows down for a breather. For a 3-minute track, they've compressed many emotions and experiences and produced a composition that could accompany anyone through each day. Listeners could feel like they're running at the start of the song then as it mellows down during the bridge, it's as if they're slowly catching their breath after an exhilarating moment.

Gakuto's third mini album shares the same title but, what makes this single a league of its own is that it's the core of his music.
Over the years, he has produced songs that showcase his work and his personality in a different light. Some of my personal favorites include 色違いの糸束 ( Irochigai no Itotaba/Thread Bundles of Different Colors), which is the ED for the animated series, Orient, and 灯りと妄想 (Akari to Mousou/Light and Delusion)—a self-written track featured in his latest mini album. During an interview for his third mini album, he shared how Akari to Mousou is about emotional turmoil and eventually finding better moments after these times. He also mentioned how' Jinsei no Life' (Life of Life) is a kind of title or phrase that would make you look back, think twice, or ponder on its meaning—like most decisions we’ve made. Many of his tracks share similar themes about daily life and how hardships will always exist, but we’ll continue to move forward because brighter days will eventually happen.
With his latest single,' Jinsei no Life', it’s as if everything he has established in the past years—as a voice actor, musician, and his own person—are summed up into a light-hearted and captivating rock song. Upon listening, it paints a picture of a person starting their day whether it’s on the right or wrong side of the bed. As the rhythm changes, the guitar riffs are carrying a fast-paced tempo, we see ourselves in various situations again. It’s a taste of reality but it brings a cheerful tune; it sends a message that no matter what happens, we still pursue to “live in the moment.”
Whether you choose to freely talk about your interests or daydream the most mundane times, you have this song to remind you that today is a gift because it’s the “now of tomorrow.” It gives a personal listening experience, allowing people to enjoy it at their own pace. Sometimes, we’d play the same song for 8 hours, pause before our favorite part, or even create a separate playlist just to organize the way we want to listen. Like listening to music, we have our own way of living and it’s the most favorable path because it’s the one we choose for ourselves. Whichever method we memorize and apply, our lives will keep moving and we’ll constantly gain new skills or knowledge.
The track ends with a slow drum tempo seemingly like a marching band’s rhythm, depicting that “life goes on.” It’s not a cliffhanger or an abrupt ending; it’s a seamless flow that encourages everyone to take more steps every day because these are the marks you leave for the people who’ll follow and for you, who’s tracing a map of their future.
The music video for' Jinsei no Life' also captures on-stage and behind the scenes moments from Gakuto’s recent show, 3rd ONE MAN LIVE. Many fans have expressed their excitement for the track release as he has performed the song during his live shows.
Gakuto has also shared his comments on his single, along with news of his upcoming show with fellow Ensemble Stars voice actor, Tomohiro Yamaguchi with his band Cait-C. He is also part of the collaborative music project, Re:collection, which features 30 male voice actors and covers of songs they’ve chosen from their generation—with his cover being Ken Hirai’s 君の好きなとこ(Kimi No Sukina Toko), a sentimental piece reminiscent of young love and home.
